About Karuna Commons
An independent initiative to make animal welfare knowledge accessible to everyone.
Our Purpose
Karuna Commons is a public knowledge base for animal welfare. We collect, organize, and share practical information that helps people who care about animals do their work better.
Whether you're a first-time animal feeder, a seasoned volunteer, or someone thinking about adopting a pet—this is your reference.
A Note on our Scope
We are not an NGO. We don't conduct rescues, operate shelters, or run fundraising campaigns.
Think of this as a library—a shared resource that belongs to everyone and is built for anyone working with compassion for animals.
Why "Karuna Commons"?
Karuna (करुणा) is a Sanskrit word meaning compassion—specifically, the compassion that moves one to act when witnessing suffering.
A commons is a shared resource—not owned by any one person or organization, but available to all who need it.
Why This Exists
Anyone who has tried to help an injured animal, report abuse, or find a reliable vet knows how scattered the information can be. WhatsApp groups help, but knowledge gets buried. Websites exist, but they're often incomplete or outdated.
Karuna Commons aims to be the reference that's always there—well-structured, verified, and continuously updated.
Who Made This
This initiative was created by Gaurav Nema—an individual passionate about making practical information accessible to those who need it.
There's no team of paid staff. No office. Just a commitment to building something genuinely useful.
